Ladies Fellowship

The position of Christian sisters in the church is very important. Why do we say this? A Christian wife and mother plays a crucial role in the family. She would pray for her family, encourage her husband and together with him, bring up their children in a Godly way. But sometimes she would do all this on her own without any support. This is where fellowship with other Christian sisters becomes useful and indispensable, as they could encourage one another, share one another¡¦s problem and joy.

The Chinese Ladies¡¦ Fellowship was first started in 1999 by a few dedicated members of the congregation. The meeting was held once a month in a sister¡¦s house. The meeting was later moved to the church as the attendance gradually increases. At a later date, a committee was formed which include a chair person a secretary.

The content of the meeting includes prayers, spiritual sharing, discussion, testimonies, bible study quizzes, hymns appreciation and video display. For each of these meetings much preparation has gone into it. The meeting is chaired by members, taking turns. Sometimes outside speakers are invited to give short talks.

After each meeting members stay behind and have their lunch. Meanwhile members continue their fellowship with one another. For the meal, different dishes are prepared by certain members on a rota basis. An outing or barbeque is usually organized in June or July. Christmas celebrations and Chinese New Year celebrations take place in December and February respectively.

n this year, committee members were re-elected. The meetings continue to take place on every second Thursday of each month from 10:30 to noon, followed by lunch and a time for sharing.

Looking back in all these years, we have found that many who had come to the Ladies Fellowship became Christians. Others have their faith rekindled. Some sisters have developed special bonding with each another so that they can share their feelings at more depth  and have become prayer partners.

We hope more ladies from our congregation will join us in this friendly and enjoyable fellowship. It is even better if they can bring more friends along.
